Income gap 'largely stable'

The gap between rich and poor has stabilised since the start of Working for Families, a survey shows.

However, it also shows that the scheme is failing children from homes entirely dependent on benefits for income, says the Poverty Action Group.

The Ministry of Economic Development's Household Incomes report released yesterday showed income inequality - the gap between rich and poor - had been largely stable over the two years to July last year.
