SYDNEY - Virgin Blue pilots are considering strike action over stalled negotiations about pay and working hours.
Eighty-seven per cent of Virgin pilots have rejected a company offer to increase their A$156,000 ($176,350) salaries on condition they improve their productivity, News Ltd newspapers report today.
Talks will resumewith airline management this week.
The airline is ready to hire 150 more pilots to fly a new international Pacific service once it secures new jets worth A$2.5 billion.
Talks between the Australian Federation of Air Pilots and management have dragged on for the past two years without result.
Under the airline's formula the pilots' salaries would increase to a maximum of A$168,000.
