While the website suggested strong salary growth in the real estate sector, Martin Dunn from Auckland-based apartment realtor City Sales said he had not given his staff an increase for five years.
Despite this, Dunn believed the real estate industry was moving into a better period and he hoped to give staff a raise in 2013.
According to Seek, average salaries for bankers and finance workers and those in engineering and the legal profession also grew by more than 7 per cent in the 10-month period last year.
Although real estate salaries grew most on the employment website, the resource and energy sector continued to offer the highest pay, which averaged $114,106 in November.
Seek New Zealand's general manager, Janet Faulding, said this sector helped to boost the advertised average salary in Taranaki to $93,317 - the highest in the country.
"A high concentration of roles in the mining, resources and energy sector are advertised in Taranaki, with the number of advertised jobs in this industry tripling over the year. Being the country's top-paid sector, this increase in roles has seen Taranaki become the highest-paid region this year," Faulding said.
"On the other hand, a steep decline in the number of jobs in mining, resources and energy on the West Coast has driven the average pay packet for this region down significantly since January 2012."
In 2011, the West Cost recorded the highest average salary in New Zealand but this fell 17.3 per cent last year to $79,375 - leaving the region with the third-highest pay packets in the country.
Wellington came between Taranaki and the West Coast, the average pay on offer growing 7.6 per cent to $81,384.
Auckland was next on the list in fourth place with an average of $75,494, up 3.9 per cent.
The average salary across New Zealand offered in Seek job ads was $74,579, up 5 per cent between January and November.
This was higher than the most recent rate recorded by Statistics New Zealand, which found salary and wages - including overtime - had increased 1.9 per cent in the year to September.
Faulding said the 5 per cent increase would make a "significant difference for many households", which were facing rising living costs.
"What's more, the average salary package in New Zealand has risen month-on-month for the past three months, signalling a steady increase in what we get paid," she said.
With the exception of the West Coast, the average salaries on offer fell by the most in Marlborough, down 11.2 per cent.
Pay packets also fell by 7.5 per cent to $59,826 in Otago, the region with the lowest average salary advertised on Seek's website at the time.
