Fletcher Building's Mark Binns has called it quits on his 22-year career with the construction firm, to take up the role of chief executive at Meridian Energy.
Binns will replace outgoing chief executive Tim Lusk at the state owned enterprise. He announced his resignation in March after three years inthe top job.
Binns is currently the chief executive of the infrastructure division of Fletcher Building.
Chris Moller, chairman of Meridian, said Binns had an impressive track record of delivering results.
"We have no doubt that Mark is the best person to lead the company at this exciting time."
Binns has been with Fletcher Building since 1989 and has held a number of roles during that time.
Fletcher Building chief executive Jonathan Ling said Binns had made a significant contribution to the business, and had been at the forefront of the company's construction activities for a number of years.
Binns will remain with Fletcher Building until December 2011.
