Former SkyCity managing director Evan Davies has taken up his first business role since leaving the company in June.
He will join the board of sharemarket minnow CER Group as a director.
Davies, who has emerged among SkyCity's top 10 shareholders due to share options, will help drive
transtasman growth at the $30 million market cap company.
CER Group owns The New Zealand Nature Company, a multi-channel retailer of natural products, and Certified Organics, which produces ecologically friendly products for agriculture and horticulture and is a supplier to the South Australian Government.
Wayne Cartwright, CER chairman, said Davies had a strong track record in driving business growth over a long period of time.
His commercial expertise, business contacts on both sides of the Tasman and experience in progressively building a company from start-up through significant development was an ideal fit for CER Group, Cartwright said.
However, some investors at the recent SkyCity annual meeting expressed a less charitable view of Davies' stewardship.
