The Copthorne Hotel and Resort in the Bay of Islands is in line for a facelift.
The planned $6 million extension, which includes the addition of 35 rooms, will take the total number of rooms and suites to 180.
Millennium & Copthorne Hotels New Zealand Ltd managing directorBK Chiu said the extension reflected increased demand, with tourist numbers and conference and incentive business having grown in recent years.
The expansion represented a commitment by the hotel joint venture partners Millennium Copthorne and the Tai Tokerau Maori Trust Board to tourism infrastructure in the region, Mr Chiu said.
