A handful of Orcon customers have had their emails deleted after an email outage overnight.

The ISP said in a statement that 266 of its customers lost emails during the glitch.

"Our engineers here are working hard to retrieve this mail, however efforts have been unsuccessful so far," read the statement.

It noted that the remainder of Orcon's 200,000-plus mail accounts were not affected.

Those who had lost emails will be updated by the end of the day.
