Philip Richards to head up retailers group

Christchurch retailer Philip Richards has been elected the new president of the New Zealand Retailers Association.

Mr Richards, of department store J Ballantyne & Co, replaces Bruce Gregory of Leading Edge Communications who had completed his two years in the role.

At the association's annual meeting last week, life membership was awarded to Ted van Arkel, the recently retired managing director of supermarket company Progressive Enterprises.
