Boral man for Nuplex

Nuplex Industries has appointed the president of Boral Industries, Emergy Severin, as its new chief executive.

Chairman Rob Aitken said Severin would start with Nuplex on April 12 and replace John Hirst, who would retire at the end of June after 43 years with Nuplex, including nine years as chief executive.

Severin, 53, an Australian, has been president of Boral, based in Atlanta, since 2004 and before that was general manager of Boral's Australian construction materials business.

He is a Rhodes Scholar and has a PhD from Oxford University.
