Mighty River gets consents

Mighty River Power has been awarded resource consents to build a $250 million geothermal power station at Kawerau.

Mighty River applied for resource consent from local authorities in August last year. The 70-80MW plant will be built on industrial land owned by Norske Skog Tasman.

Mighty River Power chief executive Doug Heffernan said a final decision on whether to proceed had not been made.
