ANZ customers hit by bank card glitch

Christmas shoppers have this afternoon been frustrated by a bank card glitch.

ANZ customers were unable to use their bank cards at Eftpos and Paymark pay machines this afternoon.

Just after 3pm, ANZ used its official Twitter account to say: "We are aware that some customers may be experiencing problems with some of our payment services. We are working to resolve this urgently."

Just before 4pm, the issue was resolved.

The issue with our payment services has now been resolved, and we apologise for the inconvenience.

A spokeswoman for Eftpos New Zealand confirmed there were problems with ANZ cards being processed and accepted.

"It's back up and running now."
