Auckland Airport advises holiday-goers travelling over summer to arrive at the airport an additional 30 minutes earlier to avoid congestion.
Over summer, the airport is expecting a 15 per cent increase in international travellers, following recent announcements of new airline alliances and additional routes.
Judy Nicholl, general manager of aeronauticaloperations, said the airport is gearing up for its busiest 30 days.
Auckland airport issued the warning to ensure operations run smoothly.
Nicholl said passengers can help by allowing 30 minutes extra for venturing through the airport, ensure hand luggage meets airline requirements, complete international departure cards before arriving to customs and making sure all aerosols and liquid containers do not exceed 100ml.
In December last year the number of international passengers arriving was recorded as 781,000 and the number was at 817,000 in January this year.
Students will be drafted in to help with the influx of passengers, Nicholl said.
"We will have extra staff in the terminals over summer to help passengers, and we have been working closely with airlines and border agencies to improve the passenger experience."
The number of passengers who will need to be taken to aircraft by bus will also increase.
Auckland Airport is set to host a number of new services including; Air New Zealand to Buenos Aires, Philippine Airlines to Manila, Air China to Beijing and Air New Zealand to Houtson.
