Christchurch's Copthorne Hotel to be demolished

The Canterbury Earthquake Recovery Authority has ordered the demolition of Christchurch's Copthorne Hotel, following February's earthquake.

Copthorne Hotel Christchurch City is one of three hotels NZX-listed Millennium and Copthorne Hotels New Zealand has in the Christchurch city cordon.

The company has also today provided updates for the Millennium Hotel Christchurch, which it says will not be able to accept any reservations until May 2012.

Millennium and Copthorne Hotels New Zealand is also unable to accept reservations for Copthorne Hotel Christchurch central for the remainder of 2011 and the whole of 2012.

Copthorne Hotel Commodore, Christchurch Airport is fully operational, the company said.
