Christchurch rental properties are the most sought after in the country.
Trade Me Property's new figures show rental demand around the country is up 13 per cent on this time last year.
Head of Trade Me Property Brendon Skipper said last year the Christchurch earthquakes and Rugby World Cup both
significantly affected the market.
He said undamaged Christchurch homes were hot property at the moment, with demand soaring 45 per cent.
Mr Skipper said that last year prices rose on average 3 per cent and landlords may be able to capitalise on strong demand this year.
