Te Awamutu dairy farmer John Wilson has been elected chairman of the Global Dairy Company Shareholders Council.
For the past year, Mr Wilson has been chairman of New Zealand Dairy Group's Shareholders Council.
He said he wanted the council to play an active role in representing the views of shareholders to the
board.
Mr Wilson said the council's first job was to appoint a valuer of the company's co-operative shares. The appointment of a milk commissioner would follow.
Mr Wilson and his family have a 255ha farm and milk 1020 cows.
* Conall Buchanan has been elected to the second Hauraki seat on the council. A second election was required in Hauraki after a two-candidate deadlock. All 46 seats on the council are now filled.
