The bargain South Auckland property that no one wanted has been sold.

The 13 Sandbrook Ave bungalow in Otara went unconditional last night after the owners chose the best of two offers.

First National marketing agent Lez King confirmed the owners had considered an offer from two men who were planning to live at the property and investors, but the unconditional offer from the investor won in the end.

"We had some private buyer interest and it came to best offer between private buyer and investor."

The five-bedroom, two-bathroom home on 1158sq m section with a park view was on the market for three weeks before being sold.

The do-up property, which had previously been marketed as having potenital to be subdivided, made headlines last month after noone turned up to the first open home in mid-April despite having an attractive price tag of low to mid $600,000.

Barfoot & Thompson real estate agent Mohit Takyar confirmed he took a buyer through Sunday's open home and they made an offer immediately.

His buyers revised the offer when they heard another offer had been tabled and it was this one which was accepted last night.

Mr Takyar said he first read about the property in the NZ Herald and thought it suited his clients needs and it turns out he was right.

It had taken a week for his buyers to view the house as they were only allowed access during open homes. He did not have permission to discuss what the new owner's plans for the property were at this stage.

Both agents declined to divulge the price until it was publicly registered and cited buyer and seller confidentiality. The owner had previously said he wanted the house sold in May.
