Auckland power project nearly finished

Auckland power lines operator Vector says a project to raise supply capacity to central Auckland will be completed by the end of May.

The $200 million Inner Auckland Power Supply Upgrading Project will provide for growth in inner-city areas, including the CBD, Parnell, Newmarket, Newton and Freemans Bay.

The project was launched after an electricity crisis in 1998 produced more than a month of power cuts in the city.
