A pipeline for success

New Zealand is developing a global reputation as being ‘the best country in the world to do business in’, recently taking the top accolade in a World Bank report. Our economy is strong, and Auckland is driving much of this growth as the country’s most internationally connected city.

The Westpac Auckland Business Awards celebrate and pay tribute to businesses that have worked tirelessly to achieve success, not just for themselves, but also for Auckland's overall prosperity.

Auckland Tourism, Events and Economic Development (ATEED) partners with the Auckland Chamber of Commerce to deliver the awards, providing businesses with a pipeline for success.

The Awards recognise the excellent results Auckland businesses are achieving in many areas including innovation, customer service delivery and international trade.

As Auckland's economic growth agency, ATEED, on behalf of Auckland Council, helps budding entrepreneurs wanting to get a new business off the ground, and supports established businesses focused on growth both domestically and internationally.

Business of all sizes can be eligible to enter the Awards.

"Auckland has the highest concentration of SMEs in New Zealand. They represent 99.5 per cent of all businesses in the region and they play a crucial role in driving economic growth," says ATEED chief executive Brett O'Riley.

"The Westpac Auckland Business Awards enable us to reach more of these businesses across the region, as well as leverage our strong relationships with companies to promote opportunities for them throughout the awards programme," he says.

Auckland's SMEs are showing their commitment to build capacity with investment in innovation, research and development (R&D), and training to improve capability through the government funded Regional Business Partner (RBP programme.

"Our collaboration with the Auckland Chamber of Commerce to deliver these awards helps drive a culture of innovation and entrepreneurship which will attract more business investment. That means more money and more jobs for our region which will benefit the regional economy and New Zealand as a whole," says Brett O'Riley.
