An Auckland beachfront house with ocean views and a council valuation of $3.1m has just gone up for a mortgagee sale.
The five-bedroom home on Tamaki Drive overlooks St Heliers Beach and comes with three bathrooms, two-living areas and "expansive north-facing" decks.
"Imagine waking up to the golden sand [and] sparkling water," says the home's marketing material.
The home is set to be auctioned on November 14.
It is understood to have been owned by a Kiwi who passed away in Thailand in April. The man's brother, however, did not wish to comment, and nor did Barfoot and Thompson agent Philip Davis.
The home's sale comes as a prime slice of real estate in the city's most exclusive suburb also hit the market earlier this month in a $10 million mortgagee sale.
The two properties on Herne Bay's Argyle St adjoin New Zealand's most expensive road - the mansion-lined waterfront hideaway of Cremorne St - and were being offered in a combined sale.
They included a sprawling 1920s character bungalow, with six bedrooms, harbour views and a 2017 rating valuation of $5.1m, and a two-level 1960s block of nine flats with a RV of $4.4m.
Property experts say it's rare for such expensive property to come up for mortgagee sale.
Mortgagee sales take place when a bank or lender sells the house of a person, who was unable to meet the cost of paying their home loan.
