Well done Rutherford College

I enjoy reading The Aucklander and matters relevant to this area.
The article Progress on Books (page 8, September 5) caught my eye. It is very pleasing to know such a programme is being implemented and that it is so successful.
I congratulate Rutherford College.
Any child who is allowed to pass through school without being able to read adequately is at a great disadvantage and, moreover, they miss out on the joy of reading for pleasure.
What is life without books to enjoy or being able to read the daily newspapers and to learn of hwat is happening in the outside world.
Hopefully many more schools can and will take note and implement this or a similar system
