The man who was the victim of an incident in Wairere Road last Thursday night has been formally identified.
He has been named as Peter Bettink, aged 50, of West Auckland.
Police and Victim Support are assisting Mr Bettink's family, who have advised that they do not wish to becontacted by media at this time and ask for privacy.
The investigation into Mr Bettink's death is ongoing.
A 45-year-old man has been arrested and charged in relation to the incident and Police are not looking for anyone else.
