Footage of a vicious robbery of a liquor store, during which an employee had a bottle of spirits smashed over his head, has been released by police.
Counties Manukau Police are investigating an aggravated robbery that occurred on Saturday (July 5) at the Ti Rakau Liquor store in Burswood.
Police said four men entered the store at 8.30 pm, one of them picked up some alcohol and attempted to walk out of the store.
When he was confronted by the lone employee; another member of the group attacked him.
The footage shows that the other members of the group then joined in the assault.
The employee was punched and kicked numerous times, before being struck on the head with a bottle of spirits with such force that the bottle shattered.
The four males left the store taking with them some Corona beers and a few bottles of spirits.
The employee was left unconscious during the assault and hospitalised, he has since been released from hospital.
"It is very concerning that these offenders have used such extreme violence against this defenceless victim" says Detective Senior Sergeant Darrell Harpur.
