Kath Johnstone descends the stairs dressed smartly in a pair of black leggings, stylish green jumper, handmade necklace and white Converse sneakers. Not a bad look for a lady of 93 years.
She's one of a 12-strong group of 75-95 year olds who will strut their stuff down the catwalk
tomorrow - one of the world's oldest fashion models. The show starts at noon at Lynn Mall.
The "models" live together at Abbeyfield House, Sandringham, a community-based charity providing older people with affordable housing and companionship.
As Kath steps into her Zambesi-designed printed dress, she begins to put her own stamp on the outfit. "Should I put this on as well?" she asks our photographer as she holds up a gemstone necklace. "Where are my glasses? I don't look like me without them. When I was asked to do the show I thought, let's do it! It's fun and something that I know I will enjoy doing.
"I haven't practised for the catwalk, I'm just going to turn up on the day. I won't be wearing high heels, though, I've got to be sensible. I don't feel like the sensible type, though."
Emma Bryant, an agent from Outside the Square, a programme that aids non-profit groups, says: "The ladies and gentlemen residing in the house feel fashionable and glamorous. The catwalk show is a fun way to give them a platform to express themselves."
The models will be dressed in top fashion labels including Zambesi, Robyn Mathieson, Pearl, Vanilla Ink, Andrea Moore, The Carpenter's Daughter, Charlie Brown and others.
