One of South Auckland's major annual concerts, produced by Papakura Rotary Club at the New Zealand Bloodstock Centre at Karaka, hopes to raise $30,000 for its educational trust.
Performers who will feature at the event over the weekend of May 26 and 27 include internationally acclaimed soprano Gina Sanders who is
based in South Auckland. Former club president Roger Goldstone, who organises the concert with fellow member Murray Guy, says the trust sponsors not only tertiary education for successful applicants but supports a range of youth activities in which the club is involved. Other artists who will be performing include last year's creative and performing arts person of the year at Waikato University, Callum Hall; Melbourne-based bass baritone Eddie Muliaumaseali'i; Danny Liu, past winner of the Kerikeri national competition for pianists; and Amalia Hall, winner of last year's national concerto competition.
The show includes a girls' choir and a brass band. The first concert nine years ago raised $11,000.
Tickets at Harcourts in Papakura, Manurewa and Pukekohe.
