Pupils' new three Rs

The environmentally friendly bunch have won a North Shore schools competition to reduce, reuse and recycle waste in their school and community.
The students and their families collected milk cartons which they filled with tree seedlings.
At the end of the year the students will travel to farms to plant the trees.
The winning prize, a $150 voucher from Palmers, will be spent on flowering plants and shady trees for the school.
Second prize went to Mairangi Bay School and Sherwood Primary took out third place.
The competition was part of the Short on Space campaign, which is being run by DonateNZ.com, Renew Waste Exchange, Freecycle and North Shore City Council.
The aim of the campaign is to reduce the amount of waste going to landfill each year.
