Police hope to have the Northwestern Motorway re-opened between Te Atatau and Lincoln Road by 1pm.
The Westbound lanes of the motorway were closed while Police dealt with a 3 car crash just after 11am.
One driver has been taken to North Shore hospital with serious but not life threateninginjuries.
The serious crash unit is investigating the cause of the crash which occurred just prior to the location of a vehicle which had broken down and was being attended by a police patrol.
