Mays St House

I was interested to read about the house in Mays Street, Devonport, and the over-prolonged resource consent process for rebuilding that the owners have endured. I recognise the house as No. 24 where I lived in the late 1960s and early 1970s - a 1940s-era house with superb harbour views. I wouldn't say that the house is actually ugly - nondescript would be more accurate - but it certainly has no special features or significance that would make it worth preserving. It's difficult to understand why the resource consent process has taken the best part of 2 years. Philip Hair Bayswater
