Dear John Key,
Don Brash tried his hand at national (and National!) politics and was rejected by the electorate. Now he wants to get in on the ACT and become a power broker in your Government. Would this be a Don-Key government?
John Banks tried his hand at national andlocal politics and was rejected by the electorate. When he lost the Auckland super-city mayoralty he told us he had fought his last election. Less than a year later he is on the public money trail again, with ACT suggesting he should be their candidate in Epsom. Does this make him a Mon-Key?
Mr Key, don't give us a Don-Key and don't make Mon-Keys out of Epsom voters. Otherwise we might find we don't want a John ...

Like many National voters in Epsom, I followed the party line in 2008 and ticked "Rodney Hide" for MP and "National" for my party vote. I did so in the belief that it was the most pragmatic way to ensure the return of a centre-right government. I have regretted my decision every day since, as our so-called local MP's shenanigans have become an ever-expanding embarrassment. "Epsom" has become a byword for deceit, for manipulation of the electoral system, and for winning power at all costs - for a craven lack of principle and morality. I implore the local and central "leaders" of the National Party: please give us back our dignity. Please give us a genuine, strong candidate in Epsom, and fight the election campaign fairly and fearlessly.
