LETTER: Whine? They're cheesed off

Your item about picnicking at Maraetai Beach with alcohol interested me.
Last summer my husband and I took a beer each to Maraetai Beach to enjoy with our fish and chips one Friday early evening, when we were approached by two police officers.
An Asian woman officer told us off very sternly and even said we could be arrested for what we were doing!
Their attitude was unbelievable given how utterly unthreatening we (a middle aged couple) must have looked.
We were so taken aback, we hardly said a word.
I was disqusted by the superior, over-the-top attitude shown by the police officers.
I have seen them patrolling the beach on other occasions.
