Kumar case: 12-year-old charged with manslaughter

Arun Kumar was stabbed in what is believed to have been an attempted robbery.

Police today laid a charge of manslaughter against the 12-year-old boy involved in the death of Arun Kumar in his dairy on 10 June 2014.

The boy, whose name is suppressed, appeared in the Auckland Youth Court today where police laid a charge of the manslaughter.r.

This is in addition to the charge that he already faces of assault with intent to rob.

Police said the charge was laid after discussions with the Auckland Crown Solicitor.

The boy will remain in custody until he appears in the High Court at Auckland next month.

A 13-year-old boy, whose name is also suppressed appeared in the High Court this morning

He entered no pleas to one charge each of murdering Mr Kumar and assaulting him with intent to rob.
