Grafton is a war zone at present and will be for some time yet.
Thanks to a conflation of building, roading, railway, hospital, bridge and other works, there's scarcely a street, curb or footpath undisturbed in some way or another (for which we will ultimately mostly grateful - I think).
This would
also seem to offer a perfect opportunity to underground all the power and phone lines to enhance what will be, once again, a fine suburb when it's all over. Nobody seems to have even thought of this.
Meantime, I recently read a self-congratulatory power company advertisement lauding a complete undergrounding in Orakei, including Paritai Drive.
Boy, that must have been a priority. The inner sanctum in which such priorities are arrived at remains, however, impenetrable to ordinary mortals. Bruce Morley Grafton
