Glenfield could use free buses to get public moving

Glenfield Community Board may offer free buses to help hook commuters onto public transport. The board is exploring using some of its discretionary funds to provide a free peak-hour bus from Glenfield to Auckland. Chairwoman Vivienne Keohane says the trial may only be a one-off, but could be more depending on the cost and the feedback. ``The idea is that we would like to encourage people that would not go onto a bus to give it a go. ``A lot of people have not been on a bus for quite some time,'' she says. Ms Keohane says if the proposal is approved the board would fund one of the more popular routes for Glenfield commuters. - by Tim Lamb
