Save Fire crews raced to the Copthorne Harbour City Hotel at 9.15am.
Firefighters raced to a central Auckland hotel this morning after reports smoke was billowing from the roof.
A Fire Service spokesperson said crews were called to the Copthorne Harbour City Hotel at 9.15am.
There were reports of smoke coming out of the roof of the landmark Quay St building.
A
plastic container was found to be on fire within a metal structure on the roof, the spokesperson said.
Damage was limited to the container and, as the building was under extensive renovations, it was empty of guests and staff.
