One person is dead and another is in hospital after a high speed crash in Silverdale last night.
Police say a vehicle was seen by members of the public travellling at high speeds along the wrong side of the road on the Hibiscus Highway just before 9.30pm.
A police patrol
unit in the area saw the vehicle speed past and attempted to locate it.
The crashed vehicle was located shortly afterwards on the corner of East Coast Road and Hibiscus Highway, Silverdale.
It had collided with another vehicle and a traffic pole.
The driver of the speeding vehicle died at the scene.
