Auckland's Sky Tower will be lit orange this weekend to mark World Vision's 40 Hour Famine.
Funds from this year's Famine are destined for New Zealand's Pacific neighbour Papua New Guinea, where 43 per cent of children have had their physical and mental growth stunted due to malnutrition.
"It's thesecond year Sky Tower has recognised the Famine in this way, we're really grateful for their support," says World Vision CEO Chris Clarke. "The same goes for the 128,000 or so Kiwis planning to go 'Hard-out for the hungry' this weekend in order to raise money for PNG."
Two-and-a-half-million people have participated in the Famine since 1974, raising more than $65 million. It's hoped this year's Famine will generate $2.5 million to go toward improving nutrition, health-care, water and sanitation in PNG.
