M?ori scholar Dr Melinda Webber from the University of Auckland's Faculty of Education will share her unique knowledge of Aotearoa school communities with American counterparts at the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay later this month.
She is a researcher on the University's Starpath Project - a pioneering research project focused on
transforming educational outcomes for New Zealand students who are under-achieving at secondary school and under-represented in tertiary education.
She is also leading a research project entitled Ka Awatea: An iwi case study of M?ori student success.
With the help of a Fulbright-Ng? Pae o te M?ramatanga Travel Award, Melinda will share her knowledge of M?ori education, cultural identity development and adolescent social psychology with a range of academic departments in Wisconsin.
She says her exchange will benefit communities, and herself as an indigenous scholar.
