Auckland guitarist Paul Bosauder is on the edge of realising his dream. he leaves next month to study flamenco at Conservatorio Superior de la Guitarra Flamenca, a Spanish university that specialises in the musical style. Since first encountering flamenco music, Bosauder, 29, has made a couple of trips to Spain. What he likes best about flamenco is its dynamic range. "A degree of madness comes from the manic hand movement to produce combas, the rhythm which is the heart of flamenco." He spends at least four hours a day practising and plays gigs as often as possible. Bosauder sums up his musical path with a Spanish quotation: "The most terrible things come quickly but the most beautiful cost a life."
