HASTINGS - Police were today looking for two robbers who bound and gagged cleaners at a Hastings bar yesterday morning and apparently waited in vain for the bar manager to arrive.
The robbers were thought to have kept the two cleaners captive at the Horse and Hound bar for more than three hours.
They fled, apparently without any cash, when police arrived to check the building after being alerted by another employer when the cleaners didn't arrive for their next job.
Detective Paul Tricklebank of Hastings CIB said the cleaners were confronted soon after they arrived about 5am.
They were threatened, tied to chairs, gagged with masking tape and locked in a toilet as the robbers made plans to rob the manager.
