A Satanic organisation unveiled a controversial Baphomet sculpture in Detroit over the weekend.
The Huffington Post reports that due to planned demonstrations the organisation kept the location of the monument secret until the last moment.
Local Christians prayed for the city and denounced the monument outside a business where the statue had previously been planned to be displayed.
Unveiled at an industrial building, supporters cheered "hail Satan" and posed for photos with the sculpture.
The winged Baphomet with a human body and a goat's head resembled a design the group previously released. Statues of a boy and a girl stood in poses of adoration on either side.
The Temple had unsuccessfully applied to have the statue placed near a 10 Commandments monument in Oklahoma.
