Experienced traveller Karine Hagen gives her tips for packing smarter.
I have become very good at living out of suitcases over the years, and would like to share some of my favourite and simple packing tips that can maximise space and order, while minimising wrinkles:
1 Roll your clothes
This has the benefit of creasing the clothes less, and somehow makes it seem like they take up less space.
2 Keep plenty of clear plastic sandwich bags
The large-sized, heavy-duty, transparent kind that are easy to find in the US, less easy to find in Europe. Great for organising content and stopping any leaks.
3 A tumble dryer sheet
Keeps the clothes cling-free and always smelling fresh.
4 My favourite bag and luggage brand, hands down, is Longchamps
The bags themselves weigh very little, they last forever, and I think they look nice too. Given their durability, I think their value for money is good.
5 I also make it a rule to unpack once
One of the things that makes river or ocean cruising so enjoyable is that you unpack your bags just once. Which leaves more time for exploring new destinations.
