What was your greatest holiday?

Sailing around New Zealand in a boat by myself.

And the worst?

Sailing around New Zealand in a boat by myself.

If we bump into you on holiday, what are you most likely to be doing?

Hopefully, hand-steering.

If we could teleport you to one place in New Zealand for a week-long holiday, where would it be?

The sub-Antarctic Auckland Islands (again).

How about for a dream holiday internationally?

Anywhere in the tropics you can sail downwind to.

What's the dumbest thing you've ever done when travelling?

Not paying proper attention to everything around me.

Complete this sentence: I can't travel without ...

... paying proper attention to everything around me.

What's the best travel tip you've ever been given?

Be careful what you consume.

What was the most memorable meal you've had while travelling?

Snake on the island of Java, Indonesia.

What's the best thing you've brought back from a trip?

The memories.

Favourite airport at which to land?

Wellington for the sheer thrill of wind-blown uncertainty.

What's the next trip you've got planned?

Rowing a dinghy out to my boat.

Andrew Fagan hosts a talkback show from 7-10pm weeknights on RadioLive with Karyn Hay and is performing at the Going West Books And Writers Festival in Titirangi, Auckland, which runs from August 28 - September 14.
