IAAF World Race Walking Team Championships, Rome - 7 May 2016
Alana Barber clipped two seconds off her New Zealand National 20km race walk record in finishing 26th in 1:32:48. Barber has now gone under the B performance selection standard for the Rio Olympic Games of 1:33:00 twice within the qualifying period.
Quentin Rew also finished 26th in men's 20km race walk and also eclipsed his New Zealand National record of 1:22:11 set in Melbourne in December 2014. Rew, who has been selected for the Rio Olympics in the 50km race walk, recorded 1:21:54.
Jamie Shaw was 51st in the 10km race walk in 48:15 and Laura Langley was 45th in the women's 10km race walk in 52:53.
Athletics Auckland Grand Prix Cross Country, A&P Showgrounds Pukekohe - 7 May 2016
Peter Wheeler won the senior 8km event in 27:24. Wheeler was second in the 1500m and third in the 800m at the Auckland track and field championships earlier this year. National steeplechase champion Mike Banks was second in 28:02 and last year's Kerikeri half marathon winner Harry Linford third in 28:24. 2010 world junior cross country championship representative Olivia Burne won the women's 6km in 22:31, over a minute ahead of Ashleigh Williams and Pip Meo. Master winners were Greg Darbyshire and Carolyn Smith. Guy Kilmister headed in Andrew Catley by six seconds in the U/20 men 6km while Otago runner Hannah English won the U/20 women 6km in 23:50 from Grace Wood and Katherine Badham. Trent Dodds won the U/18 men 6km in 20:37, nine seconds faster than James Uhlenberg with George Cory-Wright third. Hamilton runners took the first two placings in the U/18 women 4km, Grace Ritchie winning in 15:54 from Gina Butler 16:17. Isabella Robinson was third in 16:23.
University Relays, McKays Crossing, Paekakariki - 7 May 2016
WHAC juniors comfortably won their 4 x 3.5km relay - leading from start to finish - with the three fastest runs of the day from Callum Stewart (13:37) Liam Chesney and Rusi Jagose (13:57). They were third fastest team overall and only a few seconds behind their club's senior men's team. Although 17 year old Stefan Przychodzko ran a very fast 13:14 in the Kapiti senior team. WHAC also won the junior women's race easily, although Pheobe McKnight from Hutt Valley began the race with a very impressive 14:21 for fastest lap of the day - over half a minute faster than any of the senior women running. Scottish won the senior men's race comfortably too, although Nathan Tse continued his strong early season form getting WHAC off an early lead with fastest equal lap (13:10) . Scottish's second lap runner, Hiro Tanimoto, was also equal fastest on the day, putting Scottish into a lead that it did not relinquish for the remainder of the race. Only three seconds separated Scottish and WHAC senior women after three laps, but a strong final lap from Scottish's captain Amanda Broughton gave her team the win. Sarah Gardiner, Trentham had the fastest lap of 14:59. Scottish comfortably won the masters men's race. Olympic continued their ongoing battle with Scottish in the masters women' race, with Michelle van Looy taking her Olympic team into the lead on the last lap. A strong last lap from WHAC's Marie O'Regan-Smith also brought her team past Scottish into second place. Scottish, led by Peter Stevens (14:47) won the M50s race - its first win in the grade for quite some time.

Christchurch Avon Children's Forest Relays, Bottle Lake Forest Park, Burwood - 7 May 2016
Christchurch BHS was the best of the boys 3 x 3.76km relay in 37:12, while Port Hills was the fastest in the girls in 41:07. Fastest 3.76km laps, Saxon Morgan 11:50 and Amelia Persson 13:02. Christchurch Avon were the fastest teams in the 3 x 1.88km relay the boys running 20:23 and the girls 21:48.
Lovelock Relays, University Oval, Logan Park - 7 May 2016
Hill City University won the senior men 6 x 1500m relay in 25:22. Caversham were second in 26:24 with Leith third in 28:24. Fastest individual laps Sam Bremer 4:06, Caden Shields 4:09, Alex Dodds 4:11. They also took the first two placings in the senior women 4 x 1500m in 21:02 and 22:39. Fastest lap Jean Kozyniak 4:51. The master men 4 x 1500m went to HCU in 18:45 from Leith 18:56 and HCU 21:00. Fastest Lap Mike Wakelin 4:31. Caversham won the master women in 22:42 from Leith 22:58. Fastest lap Louisa Andrew 5:20. Taieri won the high school boys and Leith the high school girls.
Handicap Series 1, Otarara Bush reserve - 7 May 2016
Lyla Belesky (Fiord) took line honours in the 2 lap 5.3km twisty bush course ahead of daughter Xanthe. Tori Mennell (Rivt) was third. Fastest time went to Josh Taylor (17:59), six seconds ahead of St Pauls club mate Buddy Small with Albie Small third fastest. Hannah Miller (Gore) ran 19:23 for fastest women's time with sister Briana making it a Miller double in second (22:10) and masters women Debbie Telfer (Inv) third (22:35). Junior one lap line honours went to Tequin Lake (Inv). Benjamin Britton (Inv) was fastest around the 2.6km in 9:41 with nine year old Jacob Boniface second in 9:41 and Kennedy Taylor (10) third fastest overall and fastest girl.
