The Indian Premier League auction tonight could be for an event to be staged offshore.
A total of 514 players have made the final list, including 21 New Zealanders, ranging from uncapped Otago spinner Nick Beard up to marquee player Brendon McCullum.
The schedule and venues haven't been announced while the IPL waits for the dates of federal elections in India. In 2009, South Africa hosted the tournament after the dates clashed with the election and the Indian Government declined to provide security for players. Bangladesh and the United Arab Emirates are also in the frame.
Allrounder Corey Anderson seems sure of attracting a high price after a summer batting blitz. "I can't say I'm ignoring it and I am excited about it," he said. The auction is over two days in Bangalore.
