Volpe Veloce can end a perfect two-year-old campaign with victory at Te Rapa on Saturday.
She will look to add performance to her pedigree in the Listed Hamilton Vet Services Equine 2Y0 and head to the spelling paddock with her unbeaten record intact.
Purchased by Graham Richardson at Karaka for $240,000, Volpe Veloce was a runaway winner on debut with a performance of great satisfaction to the Matamata trainer.
"I was absolutely thrilled and relived to a degree," he said.
"When people support you to buy a filly like this it's a big, big thrill."
Meanwhile, Richardson has a strong team engaged at his home Matamata meeting today and rated Precision Miss (NZB Insurance Pearl Series Race) and Wildflower (Matamata Glass & Joinery 1600) among his best chances.
"Precision Miss has drawn the outside, which is very disappointing, but if she gets a good run in transit she will be a really nice chance," the trainer said yesterday.
"Wildflower should have won her last start," Richardson said.
