Motorists heading north are being asked to not use the Northwestern Motorway after a rush-hour breakdown left long queues.
The left lane is blocked after Royal Rd and roading authorities say a towtruck is now needed. Meanwhile, traffic is building.
They advise drivers to take an alternative route and avoid the congested motorway.
An earlier crash on Auckland's Southern Motorway caused delays this morning.
The crash happened just after Papakura heading towards the city about 6am.
It has now been cleared, but it is causing congestion for commuters trying to get from South Auckland to the city.
Traffic signals are also out at Great South Rd and Redoubt Rd in Manukau after a crash.
