Fire has badly damaged a house in Gore, northeast of Invercargill.
The Fire Service got multiple calls about the blaze on the corner of Hamilton and Lawrence Streets at 4am this morning.
By the time firefighters got there ten minutes later, it was well alight.
Fire Service southern communications shift manager Riwai Grace said all the Gore, Mataura and Pukerau volunteers were sent to help.
It took about an hour and a half to get the fire out, he said.
Crews were doing the overhaul now, taking off some of the roof and dampening the house down.
Grace said there were no reports of injuries but he was not sure if anyone was inside at the time of the fire.
