A fleeing motorcyclist speeding near a North Shore school in Auckland has been arrested and charged.
A Takapuna community constable was performing a speed awareness patrol near Takapuna Primary School, when a man on a motorcycle was caught driving at 70 kilometres an hour in a 50 km/h zone.
The driver refused to stop, and the Eagle police helicopter was deployed.
The man abandoned his bike at Birkenhead Mall and was arrested a few minutes later.

A 30-year-old man will appear in the North Shore District Court tomorrow charged with driving while disqualified, failing to stop and reckless driving.
