Lower Hutt Police have arrested and charged a 26-year-old man wanted in relation to a serious family violence incident last week.
Detective Senior Sergeant Scott Cooper, acting officer in charge of the Lower Hutt CIB says a Police patrol located the man in a vehicle on Hutt Park Road in Seaview around 11pm last night.
"When Police arrested the offender, they found a quantity of methamphetamine in his possession. He is facing a number of charges including wounding with intent to injure, injuring with intent to injure, driving whilst disqualified and possession of a knife."
Further charges are pending in relation to the methamphetamine Police located.
"Over the past several months, Police across the Hutt Valley have continued to target drug offenders and organised criminals. Last night's arrest highlights the dangers posed when mixing illicit drugs with violence."
Detective Senior Sergeant Cooper says family violence is not okay and Police take a zero tolerance approach to it.
The 26 year old has appeared in the Lower Hutt District Court this morning and has been remanded to reappear on Monday 30 January 2012.
