Only 7 per cent of All Blacks fans think New Zealand have the Rugby World Cup trophy in the bag ahead of a final many pundits are picking New Zealand to win at a canter.

The majority of respondents to a poll by nzherald.co.nz say they are reasonably confident but nervous, while 17 per cent are terrified the inconsistent French will turn in a great performance.

Eleven per cent think the All Blacks will win by 25 or more points.

The poll comes after criticism from France that the All Blacks and their fans are overconfident to the point of arrogance.

Herald columnist Gregor Paul warned against complacency, which he described as "needlessly arrogant and disrespectful, especially when predictions are made about the likelihood of a 20-points-plus victory".

Just 2 per cent think the French are definitely on course for victory, while 11 per cent of voters took the time to say they weren't interested.
