The family of a man missing from Porirua, north of Wellington, today found a body believed to be his.
William Campbell, 26, was last seen in the Kenepuru Hospital grounds on Wednesday morning.
Detective Sergeant Steve Dunn, of Porirua police, said a body was found close to the Colonial Knob walking track, which is near the hospital grounds.
It was yet to be formally identified but was believed to be Mr Campbell, Mr Dunn said.
"William's family found the body around 9.30am after putting together a search party consisting of friends and family," he said.
"This death is not believed to be suspicious."
A post-mortem would be conducted.
Mr Campbell was a patient at Te Taha Manaaki, the hospital's acute mental health unit, The Dominion Post reported
